What To Expect During your Chiropractic Appointments

Chiropractic Consultation

Your first appointment is normally 1 hour and includes:

  • Consultation & Case History: A detailed discussion of your symptoms, health history and daily habits to understand what’s contributing to your pain.

  • A Postural & Movement Assessment: Simple, gentle tests help us identify areas contributing to symptoms .

  • Report of Findings: Your chiropractor will give a detailed explanation of your examination, and If chiropractic is suitable, give details of your personalised treatment plan. If chiropractic is not suitable for you, or we feel further investigation is needed before proceeding we will help you with the appropriate referrals.

  • Your First Treatment: Using safe, precise techniques, your chiropractor will begin realigning joints and easing tension.

  • Aftercare Advice: You’ll leave with clear guidance on exercises, posture, and when to return (if needed).

If we need to postpone your treatment for further investigation there will be no extra fee as ensuring your safety during treatment is out top priority. You’ll never be asked to commit to more sessions than you need. Just clear, honest care from your first visit.

Follow-up Treatments

Tailored Treatments

Treatments are usually 20-30 minutes depending on your individual needs. We may suggest our extended appointments for patients who have more than one area they would like us to treat at the same time.

Our chiropractors use a range of different techniques including spinal adjustments, soft tissue massage, and acupuncture. The benefits and any potential side effects will be explained to you fully and choices made dependant upon patient preference, comfort and safety.

Supportive Care

Some patients choose to continue to see us as they may have underlying conditions or jobs that cause their symptoms to return.

We work together with our patients to provide as much advice on self-management as possible outside of the clinic, in the form of home treatment, stretches and exercise recommendations.

If patients feel the benefit from having regular chiropractic we find the interval to suit them. This can range as wide as 1  to 6 months, it's all tailored to the individual. We also recommend exploring massage therapy as another way of preventing muscular tension build up, and promote active care in the form of our 1:1 injury rehabilitation or Clinical Pilates sessions.

Our 'Back2Basics' clinician-led movement and rehabilitation group classes, delivered at our St Mellons Chiropractic Clinic, focus on gentle, evidence-based movement, helping you restore strength, mobility, and control at a pace that feels safe and supported
